Building America’s Future (BAF)

Since attending BAF meetings, not only have I learned the little nook and crannies of running an superb nonprofit, I have also been inspired to keep going when I wanted to give up. It has been awesome to know that people believe in and are interested in the vision of M.O.M. Francina made available resources that would have otherwise been hard to find. It is rare that you find an organization or people who are willing to make their resources available. One roadblock for my board was figuring out financial projections; however, because of the resources made available to us via BAF we have been moving along tremendously with our business plan. We have since referred other organizations to BAF. Thank you BAF for all you have been sowing into growing nonprofits such as M.O.M.

I have received so much more than I have given in my capacity as board member of Champions Medal Foundation. It is amazing to see and feel the BAF mentees’ energy, passion and devotion for their programs. The mentees are engaging and ready to absorb the educational programs provided by CMF/BAF. These events are held quarterly along with the networking segment providing the mentee’s story of personal dedication to their specific non-profit program. You come away from the networking event feeling inspired and uplifted. Join me in 2014 and be a part of CMF in assisting these determined and committed young people.

My name is Sharlene Bates, President and Founder of Breaking the Chains, a non-profit organization that I started in 2001 under the leadership and guidance of Francina Price (founder of BAF and Champions Medal Foundation). After attending several conferences, and events orchestrated by BAF, I was able to successfully execute events, fundraising, and recruiting for Board Members. I believe that BAF training sessions is a necessity to not only non-profit organizations ( and aspiring non-profit founders), but also to businesses in general. I was able to connect with other businesses and women in different sectors that assisted me in volunteering, funding, as well as event assistance. I am a firm believer that these training sessions were an asset to my organization and personal knowledge of business and leadership.
